Scheduled extinguishing substances used in the building sector

Effective fire protection in the building industry relies heavily on correct procedures being followed and proper maintenance of fire protection equipment such as gaseous fire suppression systems being carried out in accordance with relevant industry standards. As such, the FPIB is determined to ensure that all businesses and individuals are aware of the fire protection industry permit scheme requirements and the legislation that underpins this permit scheme. The FPIB also has a responsibility to continually seek to improve the knowledge of scheduled extinguishing agents among key stakeholders.

The FPIB has developed communication materials including a factsheet and article to raise awareness of legislative requirements when using gaseous fire suppression systems containing scheduled extinguishing agents in the building industry.

We encourage you to view the items below:

  • Factsheet – scheduled extinguishing agents in the building industry
  • Article – fire protection in the building industry: identifying risks and understanding safety measures

We're working to protect the environment by minimising emission of scheduled extinguishing agents
